Santa Catarina Exports Reached USD 11.6 Billion in 2024

Santa Catarina’s exports totaled USD 11.6 billion between January and December 2024, a modest increase of 0.6% compared to 2023. Despite the modest growth, the state continues to stand out as a reference in the international market, recognized for its technical and sanitary quality and innovation in its products.

The main exported items were poultry meat, which generated USD 1.9 billion in revenue, and pork, which generated USD 1.6 billion. Other significant products included electric motors and generators (USD 673 million), soybeans (USD 633 million), and vehicle engine parts, which totaled USD 495 million.

In total, Santa Catarina exported to over 200 destinations worldwide. The United States was the state’s top trading partner, with USD 1.74 billion in revenue, followed by China (USD 1.27 billion), Mexico (USD 781 million), Argentina (USD 750 million), and Japan (USD 643 million).

“Santa Catarina has a highly diversified economy, excelling in various sectors. Additionally, the state produces with technical and sanitary quality and a great deal of innovation. This is fundamental to internationalizing the state and enhancing our competitiveness. It’s also worth noting that Governor Jorginho Mello’s administration supports entrepreneurs seeking to enter foreign markets, which makes a significant difference,” stated Silvio Dreveck, Secretary of Industry, Commerce, and Services.

Santa Catarina also stood out in imports, driven by the competitiveness of its ports and the strong demand for raw materials by its local industries. In 2024, the state recorded USD 33.7 billion in imports, consolidating its position as Brazil’s second-largest importer, behind only São Paulo. This figure represented approximately 12.8% of all imports in Brazil during the period. The most imported products included copper, automobiles and parts, semiconductors, chemical products, and fertilizers, highlighting the strategic importance of imports for strengthening Santa Catarina’s industrial sector.
