The Santos Brasil company kickstarted the drainage and paving revitalization works at Tecon Vila do Conde, located in Barcarena, 96 km away from Belém (PA). The initiative, which will cost BRL 18 million, intends to improve the terminal’s service agility as well as boost its warehouse capacity.
The new resources complement the investments of R$ 60 million made between 2018 and 2019 to expand and modernize the terminal, which included civil works and new equipment for the yard and quay, resulting in a significant boost in productivity and service level.
According to Thiago Nishi, general manager of Tecon Vila do Conde, refurbishment is required to better adapt the drainage system to the significant rainfall in the Northern region and to maintain consistency in the patio’s floor blocks A and B. The project is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2022.
It is worth noting that in the first six months of 2021 alone, Tecon Vila do Conde handled 56,081 containers, a volume 20% higher than in the same period of the previous year.
