Santos Brasil studies liquid bulk auctions in Santos and PR

Santos Brasil is studying at least three auctions for new liquid bulk terminals: two at the Port of Santos (so-called STS 8 and STS 8A) and one at the Port of Paranaguá. “We are evaluating the risk-return ratio of each one and seeing where we can be competitive”, says the financial director, Daniel Dorea.
The company is known for its operations in the container segment and has been working to diversify its portfolio. In April, the company already conquered three areas for the movement of liquid bulk at the Port of Itaqui (MA). The contract is expected to be signed in the next few days.
“Of the three leases, two are ‘brownfield’ [already operational]. There is a good chance that we will reach the end of 2021 or the first quarter of 2022 with both terminals up and running”, he says.
The company has already disbursed 25% of the grants offered by the areas in the auction. The remainder will be paid in four annual installments. Investments should start soon, with the signature. “We are hiring engineering companies and mapping clients. We are in negotiations with several fuel distributors, from the white flag to the vertical ones”, states Dorea.
