Santos Port Authority can now lease STS33 terminal

The Brazilian National Waterway Transportation Agency (ANTAQ) has delegated to the Santos Port Authority (APS) the responsibility to explore a new leasing strategy – supported by fresh studies – for the STS33, a terminal at the Port of Santos. This decision was announced by ANTAQ on Monday (11).

APS has had the final word on port leases since December last year when the Federal Government granted autonomy to the Port Authority.

The STS33 terminal, covering an area of ​​51,460 m², entered the Federal Government’s Investment Partnerships Program (PPI). Located in Jabaquara, Santos, it was temporarily leased to Transbrasa until March 1st. APS is now negotiating its transfer to Vila dos Criadores, an area located on the edge of the Santos estuary.

Other leases

ANTAQ has also approved a public consultation for three port terminals: RDJ07, MCP01, and MUC04. The public consultation for RDJ07, located in the Port of Rio de Janeiro (RJ), will run from March 25th to May 8th. This terminal, handling offshore support cargo, will receive an investment of R$ 101.7 million over a 25-year contract.

The public consultation for MCP01 is expected to open soon. A total of R$ 84.6 million will be invested over 25 years. The terminal, located in the Port of Santana (AP), will handle and store plant-based products in bulk, especially wood chips.

The public consultation for MUC04, at the Port of Fortaleza (CE), will begin on March 21st and end on May 19th. The estimated investment for the terminal is R$ 360.7 million. The area is intended for the handling and storage of containers.

ANTAQ also approved the bidding process for terminal REC08, located at the Port of Recife (PE), which had its public consultation waived due to qualifying for a simplified lease. The area is designated for the handling and storage of malt, wheat, and corn. An estimated R$ 50.9 million will be invested in the terminal over 10 years.

ANTAQ also authorized the signing of a transitional contract, for 180 days, between the Port of Recife and the company Liquiport Vila Velha S.A., for the use of an area at the port for handling and storing vegetable products.

The director in charge of the matter, Caio Farias, emphasized that “there is a secondary public interest characterized by the fact that the use of the asset by the transitional lessee will generate contractual revenues and fees for the port administration.”

Navigation Prices

ANTAQ has approved a review of the guidelines for setting prices for inland navigation. This decision is contingent upon the inclusion of specific parameters to ensure that price adjustments are standardized. These analyses will apply to all types of navigation and markets.
