The Santos Port Authority (APS) has issued a public notice inviting interested parties to contribute studies on the possible concession of the Itatinga Hydroelectric Plant, located in Bertioga, which supplies energy to the Port of Santos. The proposed studies may include suggestions for diversifying the energy produced at the complex, as well as managing the tourism and environmental aspects of the village.
“This call marks a significant step in the pursuit of green hydrogen generation in the country, as it will enable the largest port in the Southern Hemisphere to offer clean energy directly to ships at berth. We are taking the first step towards the dream of leaving a better world for future generations,” said Anderson Pomini, President of the Santos Port Authority.
The public call for proposals was published on Wednesday (08/07) in the Official Gazette of the Union. It aims to solicit studies on the concession of the Itatinga complex at the Port of Santos, focusing on the generation of electricity and solutions for diversifying the port’s energy matrix, with particular attention to the feasibility of producing and utilizing green hydrogen (H2V) and other renewable energy sources, such as offshore wind and solar photovoltaic energy.
The proposal also includes assessing the conditions of the village’s buildings, trails, and access points to explore ecotourism opportunities and socio-environmental projects.
Eligible participants, as specified in the notice, include companies, institutions, and individuals, either individually or in consortiums. Interested parties must request authorization from APS to conduct studies at Itatinga. The deadline for submission is September 6, 2024.
Once APS grants authorization, participants will have 60 days to submit their studies.
Requests for further information can be made until August 22 via email at estudos.itatinga@portodesantos.gov.br.
The public notice is available on the Port of Santos website.
