The Port of Santos is set to join a partnership between Brazil and the internationally renowned Port of Ashdod in Israel, focusing on collaborating on projects related to the maritime world and port logistics. A letter of intent was signed on Sunday (28) during the international mission Porto & Mar Brasil – Israel 2023, organized by the A Tribuna group.
Representing Brazil, the Minister of Ports and Airports, Márcio França, the general director of the National Waterway Transportation Agency (Antaq), Eduardo Nery, and the Secretary of Government of Santos, Fábio Ferraz, signed the document. From the Israeli side, the chairman of the Board of the Port of Ashdod, Shaul Schneider, and the Director of Innovation at the Port of Ashdod, Roy Avrahami, signed the letter.
Ferraz explained, “We are pursuing startups and companies willing to invest and compose the Santos Technological Park, enabling us to establish a technology innovation center aligned with our natural vocation, the port.” During the trip, Ferraz had the opportunity to learn about the Peres Center for Peace and Innovation operations, a government organization founded by the late President, former Prime Minister of Israel, and Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Shimon Peres (1923-2016).
Ferraz emphasized, “It is where Israel formulates its innovation strategies that have greatly benefited the country and the world across various sectors, such as technology, transportation, import and export, and agribusiness. Moreover, it inspires us to enhance our Technological Park and the Operational Control Center (CCO).”
This initiative aligns with item 9 of the UN Sustainable Development Goals, which focuses on Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure.
