The Port of São Francisco do Sul has experienced consistent growth in both exports and imports of goods since January, resulting in a significant 26% cargo throughput increase in the first five months of this year compared to 2022.

In 2023 alone, the port handled 6.3 million tonnes of cargo, surpassing the 5 million tonnes recorded during the same period last year.

Exports have been a key driver, accounting for 59% of the total volume with 3.7 million tonnes. Grains, including soybeans and corn, are leading the list of products sent abroad, totaling 3.3 million tonnes. Other prominent exports include vegetable oil (120,000 t) and wood (108,000 t).

In May, exports reached a total of 800,000 tonnes, with soybeans (748,000 tonnes) being the primary product shipped overseas, followed by wood (27,000 tonnes) and vegetable oil (20,000 tonnes).

Imports to the São Francisco do Sul Port amounted to 439,000 t, driven by goods from the metallurgical sector, particularly coils and steel bars, predominantly from China.
