The Ministry of Agriculture has enabled two more peanut processing companies from São Paulo to export their products. One of them has received authorization to trade with the European Union. Now, there are 18 businesses in São Paulo qualified to sell to this highly demanding trading bloc.
The other company has been able to export to various destinations, except China and the European Union, which have specific requirements.
São Paulo is the largest peanut producer in Brazil, accounting for 64% of the production, according to data compiled by the Agribusiness Department of the Federation of Industries of the State of São Paulo (FIESP). From January to August this year, the state exported 195,000 tonnes of peanuts in grains, generating revenue of $280 million. This volume is 11% higher than the 176,000 tonnes exported in the same period of 2022, which amounted to $205 million.
