The Minister of Agriculture, Carlos Fávaro, informed that Saudi Arabia authorized the authorization for importing goats from Brazil. “It is a country that is investing and making great partnerships with Brazil, which has moved forward with the release for the export of goats. It is a great achievement”, he said at the end of his trip to the country.

Fávaro said that progress has also been made with regard to the regionalization protocol for avian flu in any cases in commercial herds between countries. “We are at the end of the regionalization process in cases of avian flu in commercial farms, which is important for us to keep this market open”, he explained. The regionalization model predicts that, in potential outbreaks of avian flu in commercial farms, embargoes are restricted only to the contaminated region and a radius of 10 kilometers, maintaining exports from the rest of the country and from the affected states.

The minister also highlighted the progress in negotiations for partnerships with Brazil in the project for the recovery and conversion of low-productivity pastures into agricultural production areas. The topic was the subject of meetings with the sovereign fund Companhia Saudi de Investimento Agrícola e Pecuário (Salic), which is going to join the recovery program for degraded pastures in Brazil, and with the minister of the Environment, Water and Agriculture of Saudi Arabia (MEWA ), Abdulrahman Abdulmohsen A. AlFadley, who created a working group to discuss the initiative.

In a note, the ministry informed that the delegation’s mission is arriving in the United Arab Emirates in the last stage. In the country, the minister will participate in meetings with sovereign wealth funds and in a business seminar, according to the ministry.
