Secex points out that total coffee exports fell 17.2% in December

Brazil’s total coffee exports (unroasted, roasted, extracts, essences, and concentrates) totaled over 3.586 million 60 kg bags in December, down 17.18 percent from the same month in 2020, when around 4.330 million bags were sent.
The number of foreign exchange profits increased by 34.3 percent over the two periods, from US$ 588.714 million to US$ 790.643 million.
The data, released on January 3 by the Ministry of Economy’s Foreign Trade Secretariat (Secex), consider 23 working days last month as opposed to 22 working days in December 2020.
Nearly 3.461 million bags of green coffee were exported abroad in December 2020, decreasing 18.4 percent from December 2020. (close to 4.243 million bags).
The revenue collected from exports of the product was US$ 719.884 million, 33.36% higher than in the same month last year (US$ 539,805 million).
In December, the country shipped roughly 125 thousand bags of processed coffee, indicating a 44 percent increase over the same month in 2020. (approximately 87 thousand bags).
Sales rose 44.7% between the two periods, from US$ 48.910 million to US$ 70.643 million.
The volume of total coffee exports decreased from January to December this year, but foreign exchange profits increased. Exports totaled 38.506 million bags in 2018, compared to 39.600 million bags in 2020, a modest decrease of 2.76 percent.
The foreign exchange income in the period registered a strong increase of 17.4%, totaling US$ 6.174 billion, compared to US$ 5.259 billion in 2020.
