Ship Gains New Name After Docking at Paranaguá Port
May, 02, 2024 Posted by Gabriel MalheirosWeek 202417
The container ship Paris II underwent a name and crew change upon docking at the Port of Paranaguá on Tuesday (30). The alteration follows the ship’s acquisition by MSC Shipping, prompting the renaming of the vessel to MSC Brasilia VII, paying homage to Brazil’s capital.
For environmental safety considerations, renaming the vessel at the Port of Paranaguá pier was not authorized. Consequently, the ship departed with its previous name displayed on the hull, while the new name was officially documented for navigation purposes, along with the introduction of the new crew.
The MSC Brasilia VII measures 299 meters in length and 40.3 meters in width, operating as an extra call vessel without a regular line in port. Arriving from Asia, the ship will depart Paranaguá to return to the Asian continent following its port call.
