SPA revises grace period for road cargo reception at the Port of Santos

The Santos Port Authority (SPA) revised the last two adaptation phases of its new road cargo reception system for the Port of Santos.
The grace period for receiving cargo vehicles containing loose and containerized cargo is now three hours from the initial appointment. The adaption period, which started on Jan 1, 2023, will go through May 1. The tolerance range from May 2 will be of two hours. Other provisions will remain unchanged.
The changes made by SPA in truck arrival aim to reduce the permanence of vehicles in the vicinity of the port and create more time slots for truck drivers to schedule their arrival at the port.
As vegetable bulk trucks travel long distances to the port, often staying on day-long trips, SPA’s latest decision does not affect them. The grace period extends from the scheduled appointment at the regulatory yards outside de port to prevent carriers from forming queues on the highways or access roads to the port complex. The trucks park at the yards waiting for permission to head to the terminals, which can take up to six hours.
