Six new Tatra 8×8 military trucks with imported IRB shutters landed this week at the Port of Paranaguá. As part of an order from the Army, the vehicles were unloaded at Terminal de Contêineres de Paranaguá (TCP). Manufactured in the Czech Republic, the vehicles arrived in Paranaguá in Flat Rack containers on the vessel Cap San Lorenzo.
Besides impacting the port and TCP, the operation also involves several areas of the Army: specialized personnel in the areas of transport, logistics, engineering, and customs clearance are monitoring the entire procedure.
In addition to representatives from the two units that received the vehicles, members of the specialized team from Rio de Janeiro also visited the Paraná terminal to monitor the operation.
OPERATION – The vehicle-unloading operation was carried out by TCP under the ‘project cargo’ modality. Due to their weight and dimensions greater than conventional cargoes, the vehicles arrived at the terminal aboard Flat Rack containers which, unlike the common ones, do not have sides or a roof.
During the operation, which lasted one hour, the team from TCP Log (the terminal’s logistics subsidiary and entity responsible for the operation) removed the vehicles from the containers using a Reach Stacker (retractable forklift). Then, they were loaded onto Army transport trucks to continue to their final destination.
