SPIC Brasil, a subsidiary of China’s State Power Investment Corporation (SPIC), and the government of Ceará have signed a memorandum of understanding to jointly develop onshore and offshore renewable energy projects in the Port of Pecém region of Fortaleza’s metropolitan area.
The agreement, signed in China on April 14th, includes feasibility studies for solar energy, offshore wind parks, and the production of green and blue hydrogen. The aim is to conduct these studies as quickly as possible to get the projects underway.
The partnership was announced during a visit by Ceará’s delegation to SPIC’s headquarters in Beijing. Brazil is SPIC’s main operation outside China. According to SPIC Brasil CEO Adriana Waltrick, the partnership aims to expand the company’s involvement in green hydrogen projects.
This is the second partnership between SPIC Brasil and the government of Ceará in renewable energy projects, following a memorandum of intent signed in February to construct a solar park in Jaguaretama.
