Stakeholders Unite to Solve Truck Traffic Issues in São Paulo Coast

Organizing the traffic of trucks descending the mountain’s slopes to access inland terminals near the Port of Santos was the focus of the first meeting to tackle congestion issues in Cubatão roads. The meeting took place on Tuesday (9/01) at the Santos Port Authority (APS) headquarters, where the company’s president, Anderson Pomini, committed his efforts to solving the issue.
Representatives from port terminals, the city of Cubatão, and Ecovias – the company responsible for managing the road that crosses the town towards the Port of Santos – attended the meeting. All participants highlighted the problems caused by the lack of parking spaces and unanimously agreed that a joint solution must be sought. The APS has proposed measures to streamline and expedite the service for trucks arriving in the retro areas.
After listening to all participants, President Pomini offered to share the technological system used by the APS in the Public Port area under its management. “We can share this technology, always in accordance with what is agreed upon by all parties,” stated the president.
Representatives from Ecoporto/Ecopátio, BTP, the Municipality of Santos, Cubatão, Ecovias, and APS pledged to gather more accurate data from trucks accessing the retro areas outside the Organized Port. This information will facilitate the solutions to be defined in the next meeting, the date of which is yet to be scheduled.
In the upcoming meeting, the presence of the Highway Police, truck drivers, and those responsible for the inland logistics is expected to take place soon.
