The projects to promote green hydrogen research and production in the Suape Port Industrial Complex and other Brazilian ports have gained a major European partner: the United Kingdom. The important binational effort was launched on Thursday (9) during the Hydrogen Opportunities in Brazil event, which took place in London, the English capital.
The event, promoted by the Brazilian Embassy in the United Kingdom in partnership with the host government, was attended by the Brazilian education institution Senai, and four national ports, including the Suape Complex, which has a progressive agenda on the production of the “fuel of the future.”
Suape’s CEO, Marcio Guiot, and the company’s Environment and Sustainability Director, Carlos Cavalcanti, represented the state-owned company at the London event and had the opportunity to demonstrate the strategic potential of Suape and the ongoing H2V projects for an audience consisting of entrepreneurs from the renewable energy sector and researchers in the area.
“This event is of great importance for Suape. From this, we shall create a specific group to review our strategy. We need to map opportunities throughout the H2V value chain and establish partnerships with renewable energy research centers, such as the cities of Aberdeen (Scotland) and Sheffield (England),” said Marcio Guiot.

Another point agreed upon during the meeting was the direct connection of a British port with the Suape complex to strengthen projects focused on the research and production of Green Hydrogen. “This continuous exchange of information and technologies will be crucial for both countries,” said Carlos Cavalcanti.
In addition to the Port of Suape, other port companies attended Hydrogen Opportunities in Brazil, like the ports of Pecem, and Açu, among others. The event was sponsored by the Brazil Chamber of Commerce United Kingdom, Lide United Kingdom, Santander, and Rea (Association of Renewable Energy and Clean Technology).
