TCP announces truck inspection operation to start in february

As of February 6th, TCP, the company that manages the container terminal in Paranaguá, will start inspecting the minimum safety conditions of the vehicles that enter the terminal. The objective is to verify that the trucks are in safe driving conditions. Owners of vehicles in an irregular situation will have 15 days to comply with the rules, otherwise they will have their entry blocked at the terminal and will be prevented from making new appointments.
The inspection follows CONTRAN’s security protocols and will be carried out at the SAV (Vehicle Assistance Service), before the appointment validation site, in order to prevent impacts on the receipt of vehicles. Among the items present in the inspection checklist are: the seat belts; tires and wheels; brakes; locks (container attachment device) of trucks in working order and in perfect condition; reflective strips, long vehicle plate; among others. According to Kayo Zaiats Szatkovski, manager of Health, Safety, Security and Environment at TCP, “Inspections will not be carried out on all vehicles. Only in those that visibly present irregular conditions for safe transit”.
After inspection, the truck driver will receive a copy of the checklist, which will contain the necessary adjustments.
These adjustments must be carried out within a period of 15 calendar days from the inspection date, before the vehicle is blocked at the terminal. Once the vehicle is in compliance, a new inspection must be scheduled for entry clearance.
In the case of damaged containers, these must be communicated in advance by the shipowner and/or exporter within 48 hours before the scheduling window. The lack of machinery parts of refrigerated units (reefer) not previously communicated by the shipowner, as well as the lack of structure and conditions of the security seal (broken and illegible) may make it impossible for the unit to enter the terminal.
