In May, TCP (the company responsible for managing the Paranaguá Container Terminal) achieved two new productivity records, marking the third month of such achievements in 2023. One of these records relates to the month-round number of container movements at the gate, encompassing vehicle entrances and exits. A total of 43,352 containers accessed the terminal, surpassing the previous record set in March 2023 by 1,030 containers.

The second productivity record registered at TCP pertains to single-day container movements. On May 30, the gate processed 1,982 containers, surpassing the previous record set in April 2021 by 30 containers. These achievements can be attributed, in part, to investments made in improving the two access gates.

Felipe de França, TCP’s operations manager, explains that “the records reflect the enhancements made in road access areas, including the expansion of gate infrastructure and investments in cutting-edge technologies. In collaboration with the commercial and integrated logistics teams, we conducted analyses and adjusted to enhance customer service flexibility.” Apart from structural advancements, process improvements were implemented internally, leading to expedited appointment validation.

Another innovation introduced was the TCP GO application, which offers truck drivers a more convenient option for scheduling appointments. Through the app, drivers can access an online version of the scheduling timetable, eliminating the need for consulting a printed document. By displaying the QR Code available on TCP GO via their mobile phones, drivers gain access to the gate.

Furthermore, the application enables drivers to receive notifications regarding date changes and updates on the terminal’s status and highways. According to França, the app “streamlines services, promotes sustainability, and reduces paper consumption, as drivers are no longer required to present a printed document for gate access.”
