From February 28th to March 2nd, the company that manages the Container Terminal of Paranaguá (TCP) is joining the 27th edition of Intermodal South America.TCP has been present in the event since 2001. This year, representatives of the company’s carriers, purchases, operations, and commercial teams are present at the trade show to welcome international trade agents.
With a 100 m² stand, visitors can learn about the services offered by TCP in addition to learning about recent landmarks. For example, one of the records set in 2022 was in the productivity field: TCP performed 202 movements per hour (MPH) on the same vessel.
The expansion of the terminal’s reefer area is one of TCP’s most significant investments. By the end of 2023, the site will feature 5,126 container outlets, preserving its global leadership in frozen chicken exports. In fact, frozen meats were the terminal’s number one export product in 2022, with 208,479 TEUs handled, 8% more than in 2021.
Another highlight in terms of volume is cargo that arrives in train wagons, which recently doubled from seven years ago. In 2022, 189,014 TEUs were handled compared to 92,307 TEUs in 2016. KBT is one of the rail projects that influenced these figures. The asset, developed in collaboration with Brado Logstica and customized for one of the company’s largest exporters, connects units in Ortigueira and Telêmaco Borba to the port of Paranaguá.
In addition to the railroad, another characteristic that impacted the terminal’s performance is an import warehouse inside TCP. The space has 12,000 m² and enough room for 9,000 pallets, bringing flexibility to the customer’s logistics chain, allowing the swift return of empty containers and removal of loose loads, and working as a bonded warehouse.
Record vessel calls and draft expansion
TCP is the largest shipping line hub in the country. With 17 regular weekly calls, the company has global coverage serving the main export and import destinations on all continents, conferring reliability to shipments.
Another advantage of TCP is the increase in draft approved by Portos do Paraná in 2022, which allowed the berthing of larger ships and increased the space available for shipments.
