The company that manages the Paranaguá Container Terminal (TCP) received a batch of ten Terminal Tractors (TTs) in the early hours of Wednesday (13) as part of the purchase of 17 new vehicles for TCP in August of this year. The KT2i 42 trucks used for container transport are manufactured in Poland by Kalmar and are among the most modern on the market.

The new trucks can transport up to 85 tons of cargo and are self-sufficient for up to three days of continuous operation. Furthermore, the TTs have protective systems (ROPS and FOPS) that increase employee safety, as well as cabins with wide visibility, adjustable seats, and pneumatic cushioning that increase driver comfort.

The terminal now has 69 TTs, a 33% increase in the fleet, thanks to the 17 new pieces of equipment.

The trucks were acquired with the aim of updating and expanding the TCP fleet, offering more efficiency for the operations carried out. With the addition of the 17 new pieces of equipment, the terminal now has a total of 69 TTs, representing a 33% increase in the fleet. The other seven pieces of equipment will arrive at TCP in December.

In October of this year, TCP’s Maintenance department employees traveled to Poland to undergo training at Kalmar. The training covered various topics, including customization in relation to standard equipment, safety systems, and best practices for the operation and maintenance of the equipment.

According to TCP’s Maintenance Manager, Fernando Reis, “the participation of our employees in the training reinforces TCP’s commitment to the training of our team and the safety of everyone, especially those employees who will be in direct contact with the vehicles. Furthermore, even with manufacturing in Poland, through the training of employees, TT maintenance can be carried out here in Brazil, optimizing time and resources.”

Improvements at TCP

The acquisition of the Terminal Tractors is part of the R$370 million investment package TCP made in 2023. In addition to the TTs, improvements include the purchase of 11 new RTGs and expanding the reefer park.

A dedicated power substation, considered the world’s largest outlet for frozen chicken exports, was also built to support the terminal’s energy expansion.
