The best result since 2015: motorcycle exports from Brazil up 8.1% in July

A review study by the Brazilian Association of Manufacturers of Motorcycles, Mopeds, Scooters, Bicycles, and Similar (Abraciclo) shows that exports from this industry totaled 4,962 motorcycles in July, an increase of 8.1% compared to June 2022 (4,592 units).
In comparison with the same month last year (6,026 motorcycles), there was a drop of 17.7%. In the year, 30,077 units were shipped abroad, representing a decrease of 6.8% compared to the same period in 2021 (32,286 motorcycles shipped).
According to a survey by the foreign trade statistics portal ComexStat, which records the total shipments of each month, analyzed by Abraciclo, Brazil’s main three main partner markets in July were Colombia (2,132 motorcycles and 40.6% of the total volume exported), Argentina ( 1,660 units and 31.6%) and the United States (758 motorcycles and 14.4%).
Year-to-date, the main destinations were: Colombia (9,128 motorcycles and 31% of the total volume exported), Argentina (7,845 units and 26.6%), and the United States (5,414 motorcycles and 18.4%).
High production
The production of motorcycles at the Industrial Pole of Manaus reached 104,776 units in July, up 3% over June (101,695 motorcycles) and 10.3% compared to the same month last year (95,025 units). In the year, the total was 776,069 motorcycles, up 16.9% compared to the same period in 2021 (663,888 units).
According to Abraciclo, which released the data on the 11th, this is the best aggregate result recorded in the first seven months since 2015 (799,990 motorcycles). “Even with the extended holiday closure in June and July, the associates made a great effort in production to meet the market demand,” said the president of Abraciclo, Marcos Fermanian.
According to the monthly survey, 107,449 units were sold, 11% less compared to June (120,841 units). In comparison with the same month last year, there was a decrease of 4.5% (112,538 motorcycles). Year-to-date, licenses totaled 774,064 units, a growth of 18.2% compared to the same period in 2021 (629,692 motorcycles).
July sales averaged 5,119 motorbikes per day over 21 working days. This is the greatest monthly performance since 2014 (5,261 units sold daily). However, in contrast to June, which similarly had 21 business days, there was an 11% decline (5,754 bikes sold/day). In addition, licenses increased 0.1% (5,115 units/day) compared to the same month the previous year, which had 22 working days.
