Governor Carlos Brandão met with executives from the port logistics company Santos Brasil this Wednesday (27). During the meeting, a partnership was signed to secure investments in the order of R$ 600 million by the company in Maranhão.
More than 300 jobs will be generated during the construction of the fuel storage tanks. The project is expected to last three years. With the structures in place, another 100 jobs are expected to be created once finished.
“Three fuel terminals will be built for a total cost of R$ 600 million. Essentially, these buildings will assist agribusiness operations, which take place in the Port of Itaqui, an essential tool for Brazilian logistics. Itaqui ensures the outflow of Brazil’s most precious commodities from the Center-West region. Santos Brasil is very pleased to participate in this project,” highlighted Antônio Carlos Sepúlveda, the company’s CEO.
Santos Brasil is responsible for 16% of all container and cargo handling in the country. The company operates Tecon Santos, the largest container terminal in Latin America and one of Brazil’s three most efficient terminals.
