The lack of inspectors may harm poultry and pork exports in Paraná

According to the union office of federal agricultural tax auditors in Paraná, the state risks limiting poultry and swine exports due to a lack of servers on the front lines of slaughtering plants and working on the verification procedures for external shipments.
To meet the increasing demand from companies already operating with extended hours, expanded shifts, and slaughter days, as well as new companies entering the market, at least 30 more federal inspectors would need to be hired and assigned to inspection services.
Standard operation
The auditors have been in standard operation across the country since December. Last week, the national union of the category (Anffa Sindical) approved a strike indicator. The issue concerns agribusiness companies. The matter was discussed on January 1st by members of the ProBrasil Forum, which includes organizations such as ABPA and Abiec, as well as the Minister of Agriculture, Marcos Montes.
Paraná, the country’s largest poultry exporter and second in the ranking of pork exports, has 55 permanently inspected slaughterhouses and 210 animal product enterprises examined regularly. State exports totaled $1.9 billion in just one month.

“Not to mention the proximity to two busy border regions, in Foz do Iguaçu and Guaíra, which demand even more control, attention, and care on the part of the servers,” says the union state delegate in Paraná, Marcia Nonnemacher Santos.
In April, the state slaughtered more than 54 million birds and 685,000 pigs under federal inspection. “It is basic work that has been piling with excess overtime and bank hours, which in most cases cannot be converted into days off due to server shortages,” the delegate continued.
