The Port of Paranaguá Container Terminal exported 608,105 tonnes of frozen chicken meat in the first four months of 2022. Compared to the 552,069 tonnes shipped in 2021, the growth was 8%.
Handling in the period generated a revenue of more than US$ 1 billion, according to data from the Ministry of Economy. Last year, the value only reached $792,295,824. The variation is over 34%.
According to government data, 43.8% of all the chicken meat exported from Brazi passed Paranaguá. The balance of port movement from January to April demonstrates that Paraná remains the primary global outlet for the commodity.

Almost 82% of all this chicken was produced in Paraná. China is the main destination. The United Arab Emirates, Japan, Saudi Arabia, and Mexico are the next five largest buyers of the Port of Paranaguá. Chicken meat accounts for 38% of all products leaving the port in containers.
According to the CEO of Portos do Paraná, Luiz Fernando Garcia, TCP – the company that manages the terminal and operates containers at the Port of Paranaguá – has the largest structure for refrigerated cargo in Latin America. “There are 3,624 outlets for connecting containers in the yard,” he says.
The terminal also has two rail branches with direct access to the bonded area, operating 24 hours a day with a wi-fi system, which allows monitoring of cargo in real-time.
“In fact, handling operations of meat cuts and other frozen products account for 80% of all handling in the local railroad,” adds Garcia.
