The port of Pecém will expand its cargo storage yard area with investments worth R$ 9.02 million. The space will go from 38 to 45 hectares, increasing approximately 20%. The storage yard is where most of the cargo handled at the Ceará terminal is while waiting for loading.
The following services will be performed: installation of an electrical system for lighting the patio, including the installation of poles, towers, and LED-type luminaires; construction of a fire-fighting network, including the installation of column hydrants to cover the entire patio; installation of an optic fiber structure for the CCTV system, as well as the construction of a railway guardhouse; implementation of a data network to serve the IT area; placement of horizontal and vertical road signs.
“The massive growth registered in Pecém in terms of cargo handling explains the need of expanding the yard. Last year alone, the port handled more than 22 million tonnes. To allow us to go even further, we are working to increase the storage capacity of the Port of Pecém,” concludes Fábio Abreu, director of engineering at the Pecém Complex;
A team of 95 people is expanding the storage yard. The work is expected to be completed by the second half, when fresh fruit exports traditionally begin.
