Three Ro-Ro ships dock in Valparaíso in less than a month

The arrival of the Ro-Ro Delphinus Leader in Valparaíso will not be an isolated event, as, after that, two other ships of the same type will arrive -in less than a month- at the facilities currently operated by the concessionaire Terminal Portuario Valparaíso.
The vessel is to land 1,900 units, composed mainly of high-end Ford-branded vehicles.
After the Delphinus Leader, the first Ro-Ro mooring since the beginning of the transitional port concession, the Demeter Leader will arrive. This ship is expected to reach the bay on Monday, the 20th, but no berthing time has been confirmed at the moment.
This vessel will unload 424 vehicles, while the RCC Compass will bring 2,100 units of vehicles to the Port of Valparaíso on July 17th.
The general manager of the Port of Valparaíso, Franco Gandolfo, stated that “the return of the Ro-Ro ships is excellent news for the port and the city of Valparaíso. The good management carried out by the concessionaire since it took office in March was essential to attract these ships, demonstrating administrative efficiency and commitment to coordinating the entire port logistics chain to serve different types of cargo.”
Valparaíso, with these three operations confirmed, has become -like the ports of San Vicente and Lirquén; in the south, and Coquimbo; in the central north zone – an alternative for ro-ro cargo operations in Chile, which took place practically only in the Port of San Antonio until 2021.
