The TLP1 service, which links the Far East to the West Coast of South America, will shift its Callao stop to Chancay in December, also adding calls in Lirquén and San Antonio, Chile. This update was announced by OOCL, a member of the group operating the route.
The adjustment signals potential growth in transshipment flows, one of the anticipated outcomes with the launch of Chancay’s megaport, which aims to establish itself as South America’s main shipping hub.
On the eastbound route, ports of call include Xiamen, Shanghai, and Qingdao in China; Busan in South Korea; Manzanillo and Lázaro Cárdenas in Mexico; followed by Chancay in Peru; then Lirquén and finally San Antonio in Chile.
Westbound, the route stops at Lázaro Cárdenas, Chancay, Lirquén, San Antonio, Manzanillo, and Ensenada in Mexico before continuing to Yokohama in Japan and on to Shanghai, Xiamen, and Qingdao in China, as well as Busan, South Korea.
The service will operate weekly, with the first vessel, the Cosco Shipping Seine, set to arrive in Chancay on December 6. Registered under the Hong Kong flag, the Cosco Shipping Seine, built in 2017, is 299.9 meters in length, 48.2 meters wide, with a draft of 9.6 meters, and has a capacity of up to 9,092 TEUs.
