LDC Tapajós, the first towboat in a series of three vessels under construction, was delivered. The schedule indicates the delivery of another two pushers during the second half of 2020. The vessels are funded by the Merchant Marine Fund, managed by the Ministry of Infrastructure and destined for Louis Dreyfus Company Brazil S/A.
The pusher was built at the INACE shipyard in Fortaleza (CE) and may be used for inland navigation services, with operations in the northern arch, especially in the state of Pará. The Merchant Marine Fund directed R$2.0bn to the Brazilian naval industry in 2019. The Fund has promoted initiatives that contribute to the strengthening of the ship industry, increased waterway transportation, cabotage, and maritime support for Brazilian oil and gas exploration.
