Truck driver drives vehicle into the sea and drowns at Port of Santos

A truck driver died after falling into the sea, still inside his vehicle, at the DP World Terminal in the Port of Santos, on Wednesday, October 12. The victim is likely to have been suddenly struck ill after the accident.
The Brazilian Navy Captaincy of Port was informed of the accident at around 2:30 pm.
The truck was maneuvering when it fell into the sea near the pier.
According to the Navy, divers from the Fire Department assisted in rescuing the driver, who was confirmed dead at the scene.
DP World crews work to remove the truck from the water.
The Navy stated that an administrative inquiry will be launched to determine the causes and persons responsible for the accident.
DP World Santos confirmed in a statement that a member fell overboard while operating a trailer on Wednesday. “The company is providing full support to the rescue teams and collaborating with the investigations, in addition to providing proper support to family members and other interested parties.”
