UAE buy 238% more beef from Brazil

The United Arab Emirates – UAE stepped up by 238% its beef purchases from Brazil in the first half of the year. Data made public by industry group Abrafrigo shows that the Arab country imported 95,101 tonnes of Brazilian beef from January to June compared to 28,142 a year earlier.
The UAE was the third largest importer of the Brazilian product. According to Abrafrigo, the country serves as a hub for the product, distributing it across other Middle East countries. Imports were also raised value-wise, from USD 125.4 million in the first half of 2023 to USD 435.4 million in the same period of 2024, up 247%.
Topping the UAE as leading destinations of Brazilian beef overseas in the first half of the year are China, ranking first, and the United States, coming in second. According to Abrafrigo, 89 countries increased the purchases of the Brazilian product in the first six months of the year, and 71 decreased imports.

Revenue from beef exports
Total beef exports from Brazil in the first half of the year added up to 1.4 million tonnes, up 34% from the same period 2023. Revenue grossed from these sales grew less at 18%, to USD 5.8 billion. This came to pass because the average price per tonne decreased from USD 4,583 in the first half of 2023 to USD 4,041 in the first half of this year.
