Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky said that Ukraine has 22 million tonnes of grains and seeds in stock and asked allies for help in help transporting these products. Zelensky delivered his speech at the Davos Economic Forum, where he spoke at the start of the event’s second day.
Zelensky also mentioned that he is in talks with northern European countries about establishing a drainage route in the Baltic Sea. Ukraine is one of the world’s largest grain producers, and its stock is trapped in the country due to the Russian invasion, which forced the closure of the country’s main ports. Food prices are rising worldwide due to the scarcity of Ukrainian goods.
In his Davos speech, Zelensky also called for a comprehensive plan to help rebuild Ukraine after the war, urging the international community to use seized Russian assets to finance the estimated $500 billion cost of rebuilding the country.
