Ultracargo, Dislub launch bunker operations at Port of Suape

Ultracargo and Dislub, part of GDE – Grupo Dislub Equador, have partnered to launch bunker (marine fuel oil) operations at the Port of Suape, located in the Recife Metropolitan Area in Pernambuco. These operations are already underway.

This new service offers a market advantage for maritime companies, as the additional weight capacity previously allocated to carry fuel can now be used to transport more cargo, reducing costs and optimizing voyages. The bunker service enhances the competitiveness of the Suape port and the wider Northeastern region, bringing benefits to the entire supply chain—from maritime and logistics companies to the end consumer.

Ultracargo has provided four tanks with a total capacity of 40,000 cubic meters, each capable of containing 10,000 cubic meters of fuel. The fuel is pumped from Ultracargo’s terminal at the Port of Suape to a barge at the Liquid Bulk Pier (PGL) 1, which is equipped to perform astern refueling.

The bunker operation was officially announced on August 30 during a ceremony at Suape’s Administrative Center. Key attendees included Ultracargo’s Executive Vice President Helano Pereira Gomes, Business Executive Director Fernando Dihel, and Commercial Executive Director Marlos Tavares; Dislub representatives Humberto Carrilho (shareholder), Leonardo Cerquinho (Business Development Director), and Antonio Barbará (Head of Marine Fuels); as well as Marcio Guiot, CEO of the port authority, alongside other company directors, public sector representatives, and port industry stakeholders.

“This partnership with Dislub will undoubtedly contribute to Suape’s strategic insertion in the national market. Moreover, this new venture reflects our commitment to innovation and operational excellence, which are fundamental pillars for the company’s sustainable growth. It also aligns with our plans to diversify service offerings, boosting Brazil’s competitive potential,” emphasized Ultracargo’s Executive Vice President Helano Pereira.

According to Leonardo Cerquinho of Dislub, the service addresses a gap in the market. “Due to its location and cargo hub profile, the Port of Suape naturally demands bunker services, and this new operation will meet that need, serving the market with quality and efficiency while strengthening our presence in the sector,” Cerquinho stated.

Marcio Guiot, head of Suape, sees the bunker operation as an additional draw for the port, further solidifying its role as a cargo hub for Brazil’s Northeast and Northern regions. “We anticipate attracting new clients and companies, which will lead to job creation and establish our port as a benchmark logistics hub in Brazil,” he said.
