Recently privatized, the Port of Vitoria launched its new brand name at Intermodal South America 2023: Vports.
After months of study and development, the new name hits the market to represent the port complex, including the terminals in Vitoria, Vila Velha, and Brra do Riacho, in Aracruz. According to the CEO, Ilson Hulle, the new name signals the management’s commitment to increasing competitiveness.
“We are the only multipurpose port in Espírito Santo, and our mission is to boost new business opportunities and promote socioeconomic development in the region and the country. We have a well-prepared port, a pioneer on several fronts, to act with innovation, safety, agility, and quality”,” stressed him.
With a privileged location on the Brazilian coast, Vports has 1.5 million square meters of available area for economic exploration, 450 thousand tonnes of static storage, and a with to expand throughput to 15 million tonnes by 2028. To do so, the company will invest approximately R$ 130 million in infrastructure works and enhancements, which had been included in the concession contract. Eight projects will focus on revitalizing the railroad, reforming berths, and recovering the platform, among others.
With the goal of integrating all logistics modes, one of the most critical projects focuses on renovating the railway tracks in the Porto de Capuaba area in Vila Velha. The expectation is to increase the terminal’s cargo volume by 5 million tonnes, impacting mineral and agricultural bulk by 2025, and also to contribute to the diversification of cargo handled.
