The arrival of the Xin Nan Tong vessel at the Port of Montevideo marks the start of a new service connecting Europe from the port.
The ESE2 service by Cosco Shipping Lines establishes a connection between the northern part of the old continent, the Mediterranean, and the east coast of South America.
The service will incorporate eight vessels with a capacity of 5,000 TEUs and a length of 300 meters. The cargo-carrying ships belong to Orient Overseas Container Line (OOCL), Ocean Network Express (ONE), and Cosco, with the latter providing most of the vessels.
The service was also recently launched in Brazil and Argentina with the arrival of the same ship.
