The USDA has issued a pest risk analysis for imports of Brazilian fresh pumpkin, squash and the hybrid tetsukabuto squash.
The USDA said it has prepared a pest risk analysis that evaluates the risks associated with importation of fresh pumpkin, squash and the interspecific hybrid tetsukabuto squash from Brazil into the continental U.S.
“Based on the analysis, we have determined that the application of one or more designated phytosanitary measures will be sufficient to mitigate the risks of introducing or disseminating plant pests or noxious weeds via the importation of fresh pumpkin, squash, and tetsukabuto from Brazil,” the USDA said in a Federal Register notice.
The agency is taking comments on the documents until July 17. To submit a comment, go to regulations.gov and enter APHIS–2020–0105.
