USDA schedules meat plant inspections for June

Brazil’s Ministry of Agriculture has announced that the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) plans to inspect Brazilian beef processing plants between June 10 and June 28. The organ intends to assess the possible reopening of the US market to Brazilian fresh beef, following negotiations during president Bolsonaro’s visit to the US last week.
The North American country banned Brazilian fresh beef in June 2017 following the discovery of abscesses in meat lots from Brazil, derived from the foot-and-mouth vaccination; the composition of the vaccine has since been modified.
