Uva/CEPEA: Brazilian grape exports perform well in 2024

Despite production setbacks caused by rains in the first quarter of 2024 in the São Francisco Valley (PE/BA), Brazilian grape exports performed well in 2024.
According to Comex Stat data, the volume shipped last year totaled 58,900 tons, a 24% decrease compared to 2023. However, industry players still consider this result positive, as the decline could have been larger if not for strong external demand.
Problems in competing countries extended export agreements beyond the usual period, leading to better remuneration. This result was also due to the agents’ strategy of preserving commercial partnerships.
In December 2024, the exported quantity was 15,160 tons, a 12% decrease compared to November 2024 but a 39% increase compared to December 2023. The decline compared to November is typical for the period but was smaller than last year due to good external demand, reflecting the late start of the Chilean grape season.
At the beginning of 2025, the trend is for lower shipments, limited to maintaining extended contracts, as there is no short-term forecast for production recovery. Discussions on opening the Chinese market are expected to begin within this semester.
