Vila Velha Port unleash vehicle imports surge with strategic expansion

The vehicle import sector received a new boost with the groundbreaking agreement between VPorts and Comexport. The importer has gained an additional eight thousand square meters strategically located within Vila Velha Port, enabling a 15% increase in cargo throughput.
The contract between VPorts and Comexport makes the trading company the first and only international trade entity to possess its own terminal in the country’s primary vehicle port. This initiative promises to revolutionize the efficiency of operations at Vila Velha’s port terminals.
“Previously, vehicles needed to be removed from the dock and transported to customs-bonded areas in a secondary location designated for car nationalization. Now, this will no longer be necessary, and all work can be carried out seamlessly in a single area, even during nighttime, holidays, and weekends,” explained Vila Velha’s Secretary of Economic Development, Everaldo Colodetti.
According to him, this expansion is a follow-up to the contract signed by both companies in June of this year. “This contract keeps pace with the growth of vehicle imports through Vila Velha’s terminals. Since the agreement was signed, the volume of cars stored at the municipality’s port has increased by 97%,” noted the secretary.
Everaldo emphasizes that there has been a noticeable increase in import operations at the Vila Velha port complex over the last three years. He points out that during this period, the number of imported cars rose from 50,000 to 90,000 units, and the projection for 2024 is that 150,000 imported vehicles will be disembarked at Vila Velha’s ports, mainly from China and Argentina.
“This expansion is a milestone in the sector, not only due to logistical innovation but also for the impetus it provides to the vehicle import market, boosting port activity and strengthening strategic partnerships to promote international trade,” concluded Colodetti.
