The Vila Velha Port Terminal (TVV) achieved a 39% increase in operational productivity between September and October 2024, driven by the completion of modernizations until August. The improvements also resulted in an 18% reduction in the average stay time of vessels at the port, allowing for more significant turnover and service capacity, as well as a 15% growth in the average volume of containers moved per call.

Log-In Logística Integrada, the terminal’s operator, invested R$48 million in 2024 in the retrofit project. This investment included significant advancements in Ship-to-Shore Cranes (STS), which now feature cutting-edge technologies. The modernization encompassed the implementation of advanced automation systems, such as the Crane Management System (RCMS), as well as tools like Empty Twin, Optical Character Recognition (OCR), and integrated weighing systems, all of which brought greater reliability and efficiency to port operations.

According to Gustavo Paixão, Director of Terminals at Log-In Logística Integrada, the investments reflect the company’s commitment to revitalizing infrastructure and strengthening regional competitiveness. “With modernization, the terminal has improved its operational efficiency and has become a more attractive and functional environment for clients and partners. This reinforces the strategic role of TVV not only for Espírito Santo but also for all of Brazil,” says Paixão.

In the future, TVV will continue its modernization by implementing Remote Operation Systems (RCOS) and the SIMOCRANE TPS (Truck Positioning System), which are expected to further improve safety and operational control.

“The expectation is to reduce manual interaction and optimize the flow of containers both in internal movements and in the interface with vessels,” explains Paixão.

In addition to technological innovations, TVV features Mobile Harbor Cranes (MHC) acquired in previous stages of the Contract Renewal project. These machines, aligned with ESG principles, can operate using renewable energy sources, contributing to reduced carbon emissions and minimizing environmental impact.

The executive highlights that the innovations reaffirm TVV’s commitment to sustainable and efficient practices in the port sector. “With these initiatives, the Vila Velha Terminal establishes itself as a model of innovation and sustainability, increasing its capacity to meet national and international logistics demands while driving the region’s economic development,” Paixão concludes.
