The cargo throughput in the first ten months of the year at the Sao Luis Port Terminal (TPSL), managed by VLI, bested the cargo volume recorded throughout 2021. In the last ten months, the total volume reached 4.7 million tonnes, exceeding by 6% the total transported from January to December 2021, which was 4.4 million tonnes.
“Output in Brazil’s northern half [Northern Arc as it is called] is growing, and VLI strives to support producers with operational excellence. We established a structure centered on meeting the customer’s needs and increased our company’s operational stability. For the customer, this translates into dependability in terms of cargo loading and unloading. For VLI, it translates into more efficient operations, which contributed to the growth of results,” says Daniel Schaffazick, Director of Operations for the North Corridor.
Among the cargoes handled at TPSL are soybeans, corn, pig iron, manganese, and ore, which comes from Maranhão, Tocantins, Piauí, Bahia, and Pará, arriving at the terminal through the VLI-controlled section of the FNS Railway and EFC-Carajás Railroad, where the company operates by right of way. These operations take place entirely by railroads and are connected with the Terminals of Palmeirante (TIPA), Porto Franco (TIPF), and Porto Nacional (TIPN), also operated by VLI.
