VLI Renews Contract with Gerdau for Coal and Steel Transport

VLI has recently renewed its contract with Gerdau, Brazil’s largest steel producer. The new agreement involves the rail transportation of coal and steel between ports in Espírito Santo and Gerdau’s facility in Minas Gerais, using the “Vitória a Minas” Railway, where VLI operates under a right-of-way.
Coal is used in the coking process, where coke is produced for pig iron manufacturing in the blast furnace and subsequently transformed into steel. The product arrives in Brazil through the Praia Mole Terminal, operated by VLI in Vitória. The coal movement is entirely via rail, constituting a door-to-door operation, ensuring the client receives the product directly within the plant.
In addition to this operation, VLI also serves Gerdau through the Ferrovia Centro-Atlântica, providing rail transport that connects the city of Divinópolis in the central-west of Minas Gerais to the port system in Espírito Santo.
