Vopak abandons work on new tanking park at Pecém Complex

According to the Pecém Complex (CIPP S / A), Vopak Brasil S / A, winner of the Public Call, gave up on executing a new tanking park in Ceará. The company declared that it is economically infeasible to continue developing the project due to the pandemic scenario.
The Pecém Complex (CIPP S / A) reported that the project is still in full swing, as it already has other companies interested in the construction and operation of the new tanking park to be installed in the Pecém Complex.
APM Terminals Pecém registers 10% growth in 2020
Still concerning Pecém, APM Terminals Pecém had several achievements in 2020. The Terminal grew by double digits in 2020 reaching 387,717 TEU handled. The numbers represent an increase of about 10% in relation to 2019, from the export of refrigerated units and for the imports.
Cabotage increased 5% in the total volume compared to 2019, registering around 330,000 TEU handled during 2020. With this, the modal continues to represent the majority of the movements of the Terminal or about 85% of the total volume. APM Terminals Pecém offers 6 cabotage lines connecting the south to the northeast of the country and Manaus and is a strategic stop for exports and imports.
In the assessment of Long Haul cargo, APM Terminals Pecém registered an increase of 49% compared to 2019. Export and import represented 15% of the total volume handled.
2021 data
Following a year of significant growth in operating numbers, the Pecém Terminal continues its development and records the best result for January in container operations. During the first two months of 2021, APM Terminals Pecém handled more than 65,400 TEU, representing a 15.9% growth compared to 2020.
Much of this growth is due to the increase in cargo handling by cabotage, which ended February with around 54,000 TEU, 17% more than the same period in 2020. Cargo exports also stood out with an increase of 26.8%.
