Sports, the concessionaire responsible for the Vitória, Capuaba, and Barra do Riacho port complex, began dredging works at the Vitória and Vila Velha port complex on Wednesday (26). The work is expected to last 30 days, with potential adjustments depending on weather and operational conditions.
The port authority also started dredging works at the Barra do Riacho port in Aracruz on the 17th, which are still ongoing. “We are investing around R$ 30 million in dredging at both ports. In Vitória, the work will allow the port to operate without any operational restrictions, ensuring the port’s quality standards. At Barra do Riacho, this is the first dredging campaign,” said Vports’ CEO, Gustavo Serrão.
The investment is part of the concessionaire’s strategic plan to improve and modernize the infrastructure of the ports under its management, promoting greater safety and efficiency in operations.
Barra do Riacho Dredging is crucial in attracting investment partners to explore the area. “Currently, the two Vports berths in the region are dedicated to handling liquid bulk. We believe in Barra do Riacho as a major development hub for the state and are working to develop an area of 522,000 m² where new businesses can be established.”
The work, both in Barra do Riacho and in Vitória, is being coordinated by the Vports team in partnership with specialized companies in environmental management and dredging operations. The dredged material will be disposed of in a licensed oceanic disposal polygon. The ports will remain operational during the works, and the interventions will be communicated and planned with the port community.
