Wilson Sons implements project to fill containers with wheat at Tecon Rio Grande

Together with some logistics partners, Wilson Sons has implemented a project to fill containers with wheat at Tecon Rio Grande.

Wheat is packed directly into the container, generating a series of advantages for both producers and buyers.

The project, in partnership with the companies Gomes and Marques, Aliança Navegação, and Suporte Corretora is already operating via cabotage to Amapá. This operating model also has great potential for exporting bulk wheat in containers.

Container filling opens up the possibility for producers to reach and capture new markets, since it is not necessary to charter a ship with the product, as in the case of bulk. This benefits smaller producers who are able to reach distant markets even in off-season periods and with less investment. In addition to access to alternative markets, other benefits of the modality are the lower rate of grain loss, lowered extra expenses, and the ability to realize operations regardless of weather conditions.

The container filling is carried out with a container dumper. In cases where the wheat arrives in bulk trucks, the material is dropped in a hopper and transferred to a silo, and then the container is loaded directly.
