Wilson Sons has signed a contract with BP (British Petroleum) to provide logistical support services for oil exploration activities in the Pau Brasil block through one of its Offshore Support Bases in Guanabara Bay.
The contract with BP, a major oil and natural gas extraction and processing player, is valid for one year. A pioneer in the offshore support base segment, Wilson Sons owns two private terminals in Guanabara Bay – Base Niterói and Base Rio – totaling eight berths. The company also boasts expertise in remote operations, having set up temporary bases in various ports along the Brazilian coast.
“With the improvement in the offshore oil and gas industry scenario, we are witnessing new drilling campaigns with our clients. We are preparing for this growing demand with investments in our port infrastructure. The new contract with BP is a recognition of Wilson Sons’ excellence in safety and operational performance,” said Gilberto Cardarelli, CEO of Wilson Sons’ Offshore Support Bases.
The Base Rio, located in the Caju neighborhood in the port zone of Rio de Janeiro, will serve BP’s operation. The facility has five berths, more than 65,000 square meters, and a strategic geographical location to support fields in the pre-salt polygon.
The excellence in Safety, Environment, and Occupational Health (SMS) and operational Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) were decisive factors in securing the contract with BP and recent agreements with 3R Petroleum and Petronas. Achieving world-class safety status by DSS+ (formerly DuPont) standards, Wilson Sons’ Offshore Support Bases, Rio and Niterói, have completed ten years without lost-time accidents in their operations.
Wilson Sons previously conducted activities for BP at the port of Salvador, Bahia, in 2013 for the campaign in the BM-CAL-13 block.
Currently, Wilson Sons’ Offshore Support Bases have a contract with BP Marine through NFX Combustíveis Marítimos (a joint venture between BP and Prumo Logística) for the management of Base TECMA, located in the Porto do Açu, in the Northern Fluminense, which supports the transfer and refueling operations for offshore units.
