Strong winds and waves exceeding three meters, stemming from a cold front, led to the suspension of operations at the Port of Santos along the São Paulo coastline this Wednesday (9). The Santos Port stands as the largest port complex in the nation as well as on the South American continent.

As reported by the Port Authority of Santos (APS), navigation departing from the Santos pier had been deemed unfeasible since 6:50 am on this Wednesday. Furthermore, the APS noted that wind gusts reached 28 knots, equivalent to 52 km/h.

In concurrence, the navy’s São Paulo Captaincy disclosed that from 10:30 am onward, as meteorological conditions began to lessen, marked by 2.6-meter waves and wind speeds of 20 knots, the Port of Santos reinstated its operations under the indirect pilotage status. Moreover, the draft remained restricted to 12.5 meters.
