On Friday, September 15th, the Superintendent of the Port of Itajaí, Fábio da Veiga, along with the city’s Vice-Mayor Marcelo Sodré and members of the Port Authority’s Directorate, Ronaldo Camargo Souza (Administration and Finance), Jucelino dos Santos Sora (Engineering), and Ricardo Amorim (Logistics Operations) received a visit from a delegation from MMS Empreendimentos Ltda.
MMS Empreendimentos Ltda, the winner of the Selection Process promoted by the National Waterway Transportation Agency (ANTAQ) for the Temporary Lease for container and general cargo handling in the Organized Port of Itajaí, emerged as the victor in the qualifying stage. During a Public Session held on Wednesday, September 13, the company submitted a proposal for a quantity of 66,600 TEUs, representing the highest bid in the bidding process and the largest Minimum Required Movement (MME).
The visit to the Superintendent’s office was a courtesy and, above all, aimed to establish an initial common ground between the Port Authority and the winning company at this stage.
For the Simplified Selection Process of the Organized Port of Itajaí, seven proposing companies participated in this first phase during a Public Session held this week at the ANTAQ headquarters. The winning proposal will require the proponent to commit to a minimum monthly movement in TEUs (Twenty-foot Equivalent Units or a container approximately 20 feet in length). The leased area covers 79,946.42 square meters and includes berths 1 and 2, also known as “Area A.”
The contract stipulates that the winning company will operate at the port for 24 months (two years), with the possibility of extension under conditions specified in the Selection Process Notice, at the discretion of the Federal Government.
It is worth noting that the Permanent Commission for Lease Bidding (CPLA/ANTAQ) will still review the Qualification Documents of the Winning Proponent for the Temporary Lease. The publication of the judgment report regarding the document analysis will take place next Tuesday (September 19).
