On November 16, the Superintendence of the Ports of Rio Grande do Sul (Portos RS) released the results for the January-October period. The Port of Rio Grande registered the best October YTD in the history of the complex. The Port of Pelotas increased handling by 40.97% compared to the same period last year.
During this period, the three public ports under its administration (Rio Grande, Pelotas, and Porto Alegre) plus the private handling of the Rio Grande Superport complex handled a total of 40,647,273 tons, an increase of 17.39% compared to October 2020 and an increase of 11.17% compared to the YTD in October 2020.
The Rio Grande Superport port complex – which involves the public port, the five leased private terminals, the two shipyards, and the four private-use terminals – was responsible for most of this amount: 38,545,987 tons for the period up to October, an increase of 16.60% compared to the same period in 2020.
YTD handling from January to October of this year was characterized as the best in the history of the Superport complex. In these ten months, handling in the city of Rio Grande has already exceeded the 2020 level for the full year, 38,090,430 tons.
