Brazil becomes world’s first country allowed to export chicken to Israel, Ministry says

Brazil and Israel have concluded negotiations on the last day of August concerning the opening of the Israeli market to Brazilian chicken meat. Representatives from the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock were in Israel, where they held meetings with local health authorities and visited production facilities to gather information about the “kosher” production process that exporting companies in Brazil would have to adhere to.
It should be noted that “kosher” slaughter and processing do not affect the safety of the products or compliance with animal welfare requirements.
Brazil thus becomes the first country in the world to export chicken meat to the Israeli market, which attests to the high level of credibility and trust in the Brazilian agricultural defense system. Israel is one of the largest per capita consumers of chicken meat globally and has a high demand for higher value-added cuts such as breast meat and “shawarma.”

The opening of the Israeli market is the result of close coordination between the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAPA) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MRE) in partnership with the national private sector.
