The coming of the Lelystad dredger at the Port of Rio Grande on December 24th strengthens the maintenance efforts on the Port of Rio Grande Canal. The dredger will fulfill the mission of accelerating and concluding the works in the first half of January. With the internal and external channel stages nearing completion, sediment removal has advanced to the Porto Novo area.
According to the director of infrastructure at Portos RS, Lucas Meurer, the Lelystad dredger has joined the fleet to meet the deadlines established by IBAMA (Brazil’s central environmental authority). Built in 1986, the barge is 136.97 meters long and 26.07 meters wide.
